101 Guide to ADTP (Accredited By your Seniors)

  1. Make friends! Having people around you is really important for your mental health. If you're ever struggling, don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether it's with school or just to talk. University can be hard, but you don’t have to go through it alone. ADTP is all about group projects, and knowing the right people can make a big difference in your grades (as long as everyone does their part)!

  2. Participate in events, whether it's campus activities or SAE events. Getting involved helps reduce academic stress and is a great way to meet new people. Connections are key for your future career and navigating life in a new place. Plus, enjoy your uni life whenever you can!

  3. Develop your social and presentation skills, they'll be essential sooner or later. Being able to articulate your ideas clearly will help you when presenting to others. Consider taking classes like Public Speaking to boost your confidence!

  4. Establish your LinkedIn profile now! For many of you transferring to a university as a second-year student, landing an internship will be important. So, boost your extracurricular activities to make your profile stand out!

  5. Join the SAE committee! You'll learn a lot about working with people and grow within a supportive community. Plus, being part of the committee will help you polish your resume!

Academic/Career

  1. Have a goal in mind, whether it’s the school you want to transfer to or the major you want to pursue. Knowing this early on can save you a lot of time and money. Make sure to check which classes will transfer and what’s needed for your major, and find out which schools accept those credits. Reach out to your academic counselor if you're unsure, they can help you figure out the right schools and your major

  2. Make sure you go to all your classes—attendance isn’t just important, missing valuable lessons you’ve paid for will affect your grades. Lecturers put in a lot of effort, so show up. After all, you’ve already paid for it! Especially for STEM subjects...

  3. To get good grades, practice is key. Do all the tutorials your lecturers provide and pay attention in class. With consistent effort, you'll be on your way to getting that A!

  4. Visit your lecturers when you don’t understand something, and make sure to book office visits during their office hours. Build a good relationship with them, you’ll need a recommendation letter when transferring, so it’s smart to start laying the groundwork now!

  5. If you didn’t know, your high school grades still matter a bit. But if you can’t change those, focus on getting the best GPA possible in ADTP, it’ll boost your transfer chances. Don’t stress too much about acceptance rates. We’ve had seniors get into top schools like UBC with a 2.9 GPA. Just do your best!

  6. Before requesting recommendation letters, create a brag sheet. This will make it easier for your lecturers to write a strong letter for your university applications. Guide and examples are up on the website.

  7. DO things early, do not do last minute on any exams it does not help.
